Message from DES & Conservation Law Enforcement Officers (31 October 23):

Conservation Law Enforcement Officers are seeking the help of the Fort Sill Community.

A buck was found on the field east of the Cowan Dental Clinic (Bldg. 605) and approximately 100 meters north of Randolph Rd. The large buck was shot two times, and nothing was removed from the deer. Evidence has been collected and indicates the buck was shot sometime between 2300hrs on 30 Oct and 0300hrs on 31 Oct. If you or someone you know has information regarding this deer being poached, please contact the FT Sill MP Desk at (580) 442-3364. This is a big resource taken from the FT Sill community.

Message from the Garrison Command Team (28 September 2023):

  1. We are very excited to kick off the hunting season and are working very hard to make decisions based on a possible government shut down. We look forward to seeing our hunters joined together today for the first time this year and appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as the situation develops. We will do our very best to communicate to our hunting community as more information becomes available.
  2. If there is a government shutdown, this will impact the ability to use recreational areas for hiking, fishing, hunting, bicycling and more.
  3. We are not able to hunt in non-dudded impact areas at this time. A recent staff assisted visit identified the need for a new exception to policy. If the ETP is approved, these areas will be open again for recreational use.
  4. Sportsmen will be allowed to retrieve tree stands from the non-dudded impact areas.  This will be a deliberate effort in which hunters are allowed to enter those areas during the weekdays of October 23-27 and Oct 30 to Nov 3 of 2023. The Sportsman Center will turn on those areas for access, while cross-walking with Range Control overlays to ensure areas are not occupied or within Safety Danger Zones.  You will need to use the scouting tab for retrieval and follow check in and check out procedures through iSportsman.
  5. As far as the ability to hunt with your spouse, child, friend, or other Eligible permit holders—Fort Sill Natural Resources Staff and iSportsman are working a solution in which this could be added in the upcoming weeks.  Unfortunately, this feature was not available for the Elk Archery Draw.  We will keep everyone informed through the iSportsman page and Fort Sill social media pages of changes.
  6. We are utilizing iSportsman for the draw process to provide a fair, transparent, equitable and auditable process for Sportsmen for selection of hunters.  Those who are randomly selected have received an email notifying you of your selection. Those who were not successful also received an email of not being selected.  It is important that your email, and phone contact information on iSportsman are correct so please take time to ensure it is updated as we use this to provide you notifications. This area assignment is open to the public. We welcome everyone to come and visit with each other.  We ask that you continue to be patient as this is a new process. We are committed to making it the best possible process as it can be and we need your support to do that.

Message from the Garrison Command Team (30 June 2023):

Fort Sill is pleased to announce Quanah Range is opening July 1 for recreational use. Twin Gates will remain open for a trial period as we continue to work to properly balance resources on Fort Sill. During this time we ask everyone to properly sign in and out of iSportsman as they take advantage of the range area. The Conservation Law Enforcement Officers will continue to patrol the area to make sure everyone is safe and using the area in accordance with regulations. Continue to practice heat safety while enjoying recreational activities.
